Disaster & Emotional Spiritual Care

Disasters are an ever-present concern in Oklahoma. In response to 2013’s storms, the Oklahoma Conference of Churches recognized the vital role of faith communities in addressing the disaster-related emotional and spiritual needs of our state and launched a disaster-related Emotional and Spiritual Care Ministry.

Disaster Spiritual Care Providers offer emotional and spiritual care and support from a faith-based perspective to disaster-affected populations and responders. We come from diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds to provide sensitive, appropriate care, nurturing and encouraging the spiritual as a source of strength in difficult times. All of OCC’s training is in compliance with National VOAD’s Disaster Spiritual Care Points of Consensus and Guidelines.
