Strengthening Families Program (SFP) Manager

In this small and emerging organization, the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) Manager will work as part of a team to implement SFP in faith communities and other community organizations.

Reporting to the Director of Community Care and Prevention, the SFP Manager will coordinate multiple 14-week cycles of the Strengthening Families Program, an evidence-based family skills training program for at-risk and general population families with proven positive outcomes. Parents and youth attend weekly SFP skills classes together, learning strategies and communication tools that lead to increased protective factors in families. Group leaders facilitate the SFP curriculum in separate classes for parents and youth the first hour, followed by a joint family practice session the second hour.

This is a full-time position, with some evening or occasional weekend hours required. This position is in-person, both in office and at sites. This position is funded by a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Work and communicate as part of a cohesive team, which includes OFN staff and program group leaders from faith communities/community organizations

·       Supervise and coordinate program implementation at multiple sites with different SFP teams

·       Attend two-day SFP Group Leader Training with certified trainer

·       Maintain strategic timeline and process for recruiting and preparing sites for successful cycles

·       Assist host sites in recruiting families to participate in the program

·       Collect and maintain OFN SFP documentation, such as church and group leader agreements, incentive schedules, and notes on each host site’s implementation

·       Be well-versed in the SFP curriculum, able to assist and prepare group leaders for upcoming lessons and activities, and able to substitute for a group leader if necessary

·       Be present during SFP sessions (typically held on a weekday evening) to handle logistics, assist with meal distribution, set up, break down, and be available if a child needs a break from group or to resolve any issues that arise

·       Collect and maintain updated contact and demographic information for SFP families

·       Provide handouts and supplies to SFP host sites and families

·       Coordinate weekly meals for sessions, including setup and cleanup if needed

·       Make weekly check-in calls to each SFP family to encourage participation and remove barriers

·       Coordinate weekly incentives for SFP families, as well as completion incentives

·       Arrange for any transportation and/or child care needs for SFP families if needed

·       Oversee program evaluation with group leaders and families, working with and submitting reports to Program Evaluator

·       Debrief with group leaders after each session, making any necessary referrals

·       Ensure that the program implementation stays within given budget parameters, in conjunction with Director of Operations; maintain accurate budget documentation

·       Work with group leaders to plan and execute a graduation celebration for each completed cycle

·       Possibly serve as preceptor for a social work practicum student assisting with SFP

·       Explore SFP as conducted in different settings around the country, to work toward increased fidelity, sustainability, and program development

·       Assist with other OFN programs, events, and activities as needed

·       Knowledge of social services, child welfare and family systems services

·       Must be accurate and detail-oriented

·       Maintain a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field including but not limited to sociology, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, education, divinity, or public health administration. Candidates with a degree in an unrelated field require a minimum of two years’ experience working in child, youth, and family serving systems. Waivers of the above may be requested on a case-by-case basis with appropriate documentation and rationale. 

·       Be highly detail-oriented, thorough, and self-motivated with excellent communications skills.

·       Possess the ability to multi-task and establish priorities.

·       Possess strong organizational and “people skills” to interact successfully with diverse faith groups, co-workers, and group leaders as a highly functioning team member.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       Experience working in a non-profit environment; faith-based organizational experience a plus.

·       Experience working with people of different races, ages, sexes, religious affiliations, creeds, identity, and socio-economic backgrounds a plus.
